'359° - Network for Local
and Subaltern Hermeneutics'
/macedonia/
-Program: 359° - Network for local
and subaltern hermeneutics is a NGO of group of intellectuals
that are starting from the position of their own experiences about
the definition of their position as subjects of/in a culture burdened
by the imperatives of the West-East discourses. The starting premise
of this group is redirect the discourse West-East towards the
local scene, i.e. to post the defining and interpretation of the
experience and knowledge, accumulated in this location in a functional
pragmatics for the purposes of this location. That implicitly
understands sub ordering of the mentioned discourse in behalf
of the local, in the frames of the group understood as local in
the wider space of the Balkans. By that, the basic aim is promotion
of the local and own resources and to post them not in function
of the western interpretative methodologies, but rather to implement
and make them functional for the needs not of the western thinkers,
but of the local ones, of those that aredirectly living the post-colonial
condition in which they are surrounded.
Hence: Why 359°? - 359° comprise
projects that encourage local hermeneutical positions. It is a
network of dialectical confrontations of ahermeneutical circle
and 'bestimmten Ausschnitt der Welt'. 359° researches the rest
of 1° needed to close the circle by the former 359° and to come
to the missing 1°.
Why local? 359° - Network for local
and subaltern hermeneutics is based on a political decision to
reject, refuse and refute, the Menon-like position of the Macedonian
and Balkanian scholar, artist and historian, to whom the Western
theoretical establishment opens the road to the world of ideas.
359° - Network forlocal and subaltern hermeneutics insists on
the critical function of interpretation that helps understanding
of the local context and practice.
Why subaltern? 359° - Network for
local and subaltern hermeneutics finds the postcommunist Macedonian
theorists, writers, artists etc. to be very near to the postcolonial
thought. 359° - Network for local and subaltern hermeneutics refers
to Spivak's insights but does not ask the western theoretical
establishment to take a moratorium on producing global decisions.
Why hermeneutics? 359° - Network
for local and subaltern hermeneutics produces local decisions.
